I am a qualified Talk Therapist (counsellor/psychotherapist) with a Diploma and a BSc (Hons.) Degree in Counselling / Psychotherapy from the University of Middlesex . I am accredited with the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP).
Originally from South Africa, I have been living in Ireland since 2001. My experience as a foster carer with Tusla, the Child and Family Agency, since 2004 has given me an interest in the impact of childhood trauma on the lives of adults and was what motivated me to start studying counselling.
After I finished my secondary schooling, I did military service for two years in the South African Air Force (compulsory), worked in a commercial bank, did a stint on a kibbutz in Israel and traveled around Europe for one year.
Back in South Africa, I studied at the University of Stellenbosch and qualified with a BA degree in political science.
I have worked as a journalist for a large newspaper in South Africa and served with the South African Foreign Service as a diplomat during which time I was posted to Canada and Norway.
